As the founder of the UK’s first and only LGBTQ+ Museum, former editor of Gay Times and creator of the best-selling Dear Me, A Letter to my 16 Year Old Self book series, as well as the Deputy CEO for a corporate leadership members network, Joe has consistently led impactful, values-driven initiatives that blend innovation, inclusion and community-building.

In his consultancy role with PBC, Joe will work closely with the team over the coming months to explore new fundraising opportunities and shape a strategic development plan that aligns with the Board’s business goals.

Drawing on his deep cross-sector experience - from corporate partnerships and publishing to major donor fundraising and inclusive engagement - he’ll bring a powerful network and proven expertise in building meaningful relationships, growing visibility and unlocking resources.

Says Joe: I’m delighted to partner with the Portobello Business Centre. With two decades of experience in start-ups, commercial ventures, and social entrepreneurship, I'm looking forward to directly supporting the small businesses that are the true heart of our communities. I want to see them flourish and help drive a more vibrant local economy."

Says Executive Chair Sheela Sharma: “We recognise that fundraising is an integral part of our business strategy moving forward and we know there are key players and organisations who would be interested in the pioneering work now being done by PBC.

“So we are delighted to have someone of Joe’s stature and experience coming in to help us develop our first ever fundraising strategy.”
