Starting Out Strong: Louise’s First Taste of Market Life

Meet Louise Giordano a new entrepreneur taking her very first steps into the world of business. Louise recently joined our RBKC-funded programme, designed to help early-stage entrepreneurs turn their ideas into action. She creates and sells a beautiful range of self-care products, including handmade cold process soaps, whipped soaps, scrubs and wax melts all crafted with care to help her customers relax, unwind and indulge in a bit of everyday luxury. With the support of one of our expert business advisers, Louise has been steadily shaping her business vision and gaining clarity on how to move forward with confidence.

Together, they developed a tailored support plan that focused on testing her product in a real-world setting and learning how to connect with customers in a meaningful way. That support wasn’t just theoretical. It included practical, hands-on guidance everything from how to price her products, design her stall layout and present her packaging, to how to speak about her brand with confidence. We also helped Louise prepare for the logistics of market trading: early starts, managing payments, and handling the pace and energy of a busy trading day.

And then came the big moment: We offered her the chance to take part in a test trading day at Portobello Market one of London’s most iconic trading spaces. This was her first time ever selling to the public. She wanted to know what it would feel like to stand behind a stall, speak to real customers and share her products face to face.

And she did it.

She showed up with passion, courage and curiosity and left with something more. Louise gained valuable insights, encouraging feedback and, perhaps most importantly, a real boost to her confidence. Now she’s thinking ahead and already planning her next steps.

At PBC, we believe this is what support should look like real experiences, guided risk-taking, and the kind of personalised help that empowers people to grow at their own pace. So here’s to brave beginnings, supportive communities and the power of taking that first step.

Well done, Louise — we’re so proud of you.
