When the Portobello Business Centre team visited Notre Dame Roman Catholic Girls' School in South East London to talk about student entrepreneurship, the impact on students was clear to see.
134 Year 11 pupils explored what it means to think like an entrepreneur, develop a business idea of their own and see entrepreneurship as a real career opportunity.
“We were very fortunate to have [Portobello Business Centre] Dr Sheela Sharma deliver a most engaging presentation on entrepreneurship to our Year 11 students… She encouraged our students to develop their ideas and asked interesting questions within the world of business… Over the weekend several students did indeed evolve their embryonic ideas and presented them to Sheela when she returned for a follow-up with this group… Several students have now signed up to further develop their ideas in the Easter holidays [through Portobello Business Centre's free student entrepreneurship programme], even though this is study time, because they recognise the unique opportunity they are offered… Truly a valuable, meaningful employer engagement event, which has limitless possibilities if the students themselves have the same determination.”

We were very fortunate to have Dr Sheela Sharma deliver such an inspiring and insightful talk on entrepreneurship. She motivated our students to refine their ideas and asked thought-provoking questions. Many continued working on their projects over the weekend and later joined the free Student Entrepreneurship Programme during the Easter holidays. Our students have never had such engaging employer interaction or a chance to turn an idea into something tangible. A truly valuable and meaningful event experience with limitless possibilities.”
